Épernay is a small, pretty town about 16 miles or 26km south of Reims, making it an excellent base for exploring the region's vineyards and attractions. Strolling around on the town's splendid tree-lined streets, one can visit the Avenue de Champagne, where several of the most famous champagne Maisons are located. The town also boasts several incredible examples of 18th and 19th century architecture.
